Water mitigation is the complete process of preventing further damage after a water loss. It includes extraction, plus:

• Emergency services (board-up, water shutoff assistance)
• Moisture mapping and damage assessment
• Structural drying and dehumidification
• Monitoring with documented drying logs
• Removal of unsalvageable materials
• Antimicrobial treatment where appropriate
• Content handling and protection

Why the distinction matters to you

1. Incomplete work. A company that only extracts and leaves has done half the job. Trapped moisture will cause secondary damage — and you'll pay twice.
